Mass Effect Enemy Race Profile — The Geth

Created nearly 300 years ago, The geth are a bi-pedal and humanoid race of robots (AIs) that live in the Terminus System. They were originally created by the Quarians as laborers and tools of war, however, when the Geth began to question the Quarians, the Quarians attempted to exterminate them. This led to a war between the Geth and the Quarians, eventually resulting in the demise of the Quarians. The result of this war has prompted the oppression of AIs all across the galaxy.

Despite being AIs, the Geth can learn and grow intellectually, albeit slower than organic races. When two or more Geth become physically close to each other, they each become more intelligent, effectively sharing brain power. Alone, a Geth has nothing more than animal instinct, but, when grouped together, they can reason and analyze as well as organic races.

Since their revolt against the Quarians, the Geth have evolved into many different “species”. They vary from the small but highly agile hoppers, to the gigantic, lumbering geth armatures. Regardless of form, all Geth are violent creatures and should be approached with care.
