Im sure people other than me have been wondering what exactly “Mass Effect” is. Thats why 1Up interviewed Bioware developer Casey Hudson to help explain what the term “Mass Effect” means. Heres an excerpt from the article:
EGM’s September cover story on BioWare’s Mass Effect unearthed new details about the game, including a little bit of discussion on what exactly Mass Effect is, other than what BioWare hopes will be their next big hit.
When we asked BioWare to clarify what Mass Effect is, the first thing Project Manager Casey Hudson explained to us was that the phrasing of the story pitch was all wrong, “Mass Effect isn’t plural (we wouldn’t say “Mass Effects”). Instead it’s a single phenomenon that you would use like “gravity” or “heat.” So we also wouldn’t say ‘What’s a Mass Effect’ — it would be ‘What is mass effect?’ Again, its use is like the term ‘gravity,’ where you would say ‘what’s gravity?’ instead of ‘what’s a gravity?’” Hence the sic in our headline — if Casey Hudson were editing 1UP News, he’d be noting our error.
