Mass Effect 2: Increased Squad Size

Currently in Mass Effect, you are only allowed 2 squadmates, not including Shepard. Some fans are calling for the addition of one or two more squadmates in Mass Effect 2.

One solid reason against the addition of more squadmates is the Mako design. Currently the Mako only has 3 seats. If Bioware were to add more companions, they would be to develop a new Mako to accommodate them. That may be more work Bioware isn’t looking for.

By adding companions though, it would give us a much more tactical 2-2 formations.

What’s your take on the topic? Do you like the current set up, or should Bioware add more companions?

  1. I think they should keep the current party size. Having 3 other allies with you might make the game too easy. Part of Mass Effect’s gameplay is choosing which people you bring along.

It would also force the power wheel to be smaller, divided into 4 parts instead of 3. And having all those powers might be too hard to handle for most gamers and people newer to RPG’s. Again, having all those powers would make the game easier.

It would also be weird having a big posse of 4 people running around the citadel or whatever the new setting in Mass Effect 2 will be. And the small buildings don’t easily accomodate more than a few people.

  2. yes and No what they really need to do is work out all of the glitchs before they even think about tackeling a number two

  3. ok the glitches i can deal with i mean look at World of Warcraft when it came out BUG CITY but Blizzard is draging it out and making lots of money off of it kinda like what Bungie is doing with Halo im glad to see that there are 2 companies doing something right Silicon Knights and Bioware are both developing games same with ID they have already announced Doom 4 they have been working on that for 2 years now that should be out this year or next with revamped graphics and all that stuff but hey who am i judging.all 3 of the games will undoubtedly have issues but will be superior to any other game out there because they are at least continuing the story instead of draging it out.

  4. ill stick with the original numbers, your an insertion team for christ’s sakes not an army!
